Penny Juice's website has much needed maintenance. My first impression was if this site is even up and running. I then noticed then that you have to either download a flash player or select a HMTL version. The website is obviously outdated by a decade or so. Like when the internet was first born into this world. ๐ถ๐ผ I wonder who even designs it? After selecting the option of my choice, I could barely manage to view the page. There is a huge amount of color that do not mesh well and is too bright. ๐ It definitely needs a major face lift! What is their brand? There needs to be many improvements, for instance a common color theme with a selection of 5 or less, access to be just HTML which is available upon opening visiting the site, a home page option, task bars for the different pages offered, more content and interaction, etc. These improvements would allow many doors to open for this business, thus brining in more customers.
Spot Metering is surprisingly similar to that of Penny Juice, not up to date and not user friendly. Spot Metering also has way too much wording just on it's front page and the content is lacking interaction. There are illustrations that the average person would not understand and could possibly deter the viewer/visitor not to even read further. Their fonts and colors are all over the place as well. There are no consistency within the site.
On the other hand, Apple and Toyota is the complete opposite. Allowing the visitor to be at ease by it's user friendly interaction of imagery, wording, descriptions of it's products, and such. Much of it's information is implied within it's content, pages located at the tabs and bottom of it's main page. There is much interaction that actually makes me want to stay and browse more! The sites does the job right for the companies/businesses! You have an easier access to the what the company has to say and offer! Their branding is clear and the site brings a lot more to the plate! ๐ฝ Let's dine in!

If you own or will own a business, what will you put on your website?
Hi Davina!
ReplyDeleteI reviewed the same 3 websites that you did: Toyota, Apple and Penny Juice. I agree with your point of view. I believe that Apple and Toyota are good website because they are interactive. They have the feature of REPETITION in their logos. Both Toyota and Apple have their logos on the top left which brings brand recognition.
On the other hand, I agree that Penny Juice lacks of good design. I did not know that the website was outdated. Actually i believed it was with purpose.
About your question, I do have a website www.polancodecora.com where i believe it can be improved.
Thank you for your comment! I do like your site! ITs refreshing and wish it was in English. Makes sense though sense it is in Mexico! Are you an interior designer?
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your blog post. It was more than just completing the assignment. I like how you put little emojis in and also how you asked the reader questions. I agree with you about Apple and Toyota. I tried to comment on the Penny Juice site, but I didn't understand how to open it, so I bounced!
ReplyDeleteHello Davina,
ReplyDeleteIt is very funny how we ended up picking the same websites to comment on. When I started looking for websites to identify the problems, PennyJuice.com and Spotmetering.com were so chocking to me that I couldn’t pass by. Toyota and Apple were the opposite, I picked them before I even went on their websites because due to the kind of companies they are, I knew I would have plenty positive things to talk about.
I agree with you, PennyJuice.com and Spotmetering.com are both very poorly designed and confusing.
As you mentioned, Penny Juice looks very outdated (by the way, I loved the little baby you added to the text, very funny!) like when the Internet was first born. I wonder if they still get any business from there. It is poorly designed and not visually appealing (very busy, with very poor choice of bright colors and fonts).
Spotmetering.com is also not visually appealing. The way they use those bright color fonts and mix all kinds of different font types and sizes makes the website look really confusing, unprofessional and hard to read. I totally agree, this website is definitely not updated nor user friendly.
When we go to Toyota and Apple it is such a relief (specially to the eyes)! Like you said, it makes the visitor at easy by its user-friendly interaction. The whole design and content flows. The colors and pictures are so professional and the way everything is displayed and linked together makes you want to stay and explore more. I just got surprised when I couldn’t find any kind of Social Media at the apple website and I wonder why they chose not to do it.
Your observation of ol' Penny Juice's website is spot on, it seems as though the site was created in the late 90's. I am still not 100% sure what Penny Juice is but I do know that I would not put any of my information on that website. My real question is how did you get the titles to work as links.
